The Atlantic Forest Week in Camacan
The Uiraçu Institute in partnership with the Municipality of Camacan, through its Environment and Education Secretariats presented the Atlantic Forest Week from 7 to 11 June this year; an event which is becoming a tradition in the town.
The week was arranged with the cooperation and the participation of several such entities including Preserva, CDL of Camacan, Public Ministry of the State of Bahia - Núcleo Mata Atlântica, Fundação José Silveira, IESB, CARE and BASES. Many volunteers helped made the event a success.
The central theme was Biodiversity and the chosen phrase chosen to symbolize the event was "Choose a goal for life – 2010, the year of Biodiversity". Several activities were selected for round tables, lectures, courses, exhibitions of pictures and school works, training of people for sustainable activities and a closing session with the presence of the schools and of the public in general.
